It is a no-brainer to suggest that marketers adopting AI advertising tools without rigorous testing are risking blind spots in customer insights that could devastate campaign effectiveness.
The recent AI ad updates at Google reveal a direct oversight that a client just shared with us at Provalytics: jumping on new tech without validating its impact leaves marketers blind to nuanced customer behavior across the purchase decision journey.
We have all seen companies heavily invest in AI tools in the past 24 months, and many are trusting them implicitly to drive results. However, when they didn't scrutinize the outputs, they missed customer shifts that a dedicated platform (or even manual checks) would have caught.
The common belief is that AI can autonomously fine-tune campaigns.
Maybe with a highly trained analytics "agent" like the Agile Impact Modeling (AIM) platform that works to give you the highest estimated probability of success, but our experience shows that human oversight is still crucial to interpreting outputs effectively.
Again, it is a "duh?" that when marketers rely solely on AI without checks, they risk misalignment with changing customer wants and needs. However Jeff Greenfield and I have some real tangible examples now.
We are happy to share. let me know.
Cheers
Todd
